Robert J Dole Homeless Vet Program

The goal of this program is to place a homeless Veteran and his family immediately into emergency shelter placement and then quickly into permanent housing. The system would provide case management/wrap-around services when they are housed to help the Veteran/family re-integrate into the community and become independent.

A lot of items are needed to help make this program work.

A list of needed items:

Queen size bed frame

Kitchen Garbage Can/Trash Bags

Shower Curtain/Liners/Rings

Kitchen Towels

Bathroom Towels

Queen size comforters and sheets (queen size beds donated from mattress company)

Laundry Basket

Dishes set

Glass set

Dish drying rack

Coffee Pot

Cooking utensils

Cooking Pots

Can Opener

Toilet Paper

Paper Towels

Only used items will be accepted if they are “like new”: Pots/Pans, silverware, cups, plates.

Gift Cards are also needed to help out (ie: small increment, Gas Cards, Fast Food cards, Dillons cards).

American Legion Post 81 will be contributing to this very worthy case to help get homeless Veterans/families off the streets. If you would like to donate to this cause, we will have a collection point here at the Post.

You may also donate directly to the VA at Bldg 5 Monday -Friday from 0800-1600 or by contacting Melissa Garner at 316-685-2221 Ext 57311
